FAQs

  • Holistic massage considers the patient’s emotional state as important as the physical.

We understand that the the mind is the main source of muscular tension and that there is a reciprocal relationship between mind and body and body and mind. Soothing one soothes the other.

A good holistic massage will take account of your individual needs. By seeing each person as unique, we can start to understand their individual problems and address those. Treatment is more meaningful and effective because it is tailored to your own personal experience and preference.

Whereas some types of massage use force to make muscles relax, in holistic massage we use very gentle pressure and do not work against the body. We take time to soothe body and mind and gently encourage the muscles to relax.

  • At Wellspring, we pay particular attention to the surroundings in which the massage will be given.

Holistic massage therapy is particularly concerned with how a person feels emotionally. We believe that our environment affects how we feel and react mentally, which in turn affects the way we feel physically.

This type of massage has several different aesthetic elements designed to engage multiple senses. Whether you come to our studio or we come to see you in your own space, we will establish an environment in which the lights will be dimmed, scents will be used either with an oil diffuser or candles, music or sound will help you to relax and a comfortable table with soft towels will be used so that you are totally at ease.

  • Holistic massage is less painful than other types of massage because care is taken not to use force against the muscles.

You may experience some discomfort during your massage, because when trigger points are stimulated to release contracted muscles, these areas are often quite tender.

Clients usually describe this as a combination of discomfort and relief.

  • Holistic massage therapy can play an important role in improving and maintaining physical and mental wellbeing.

This type of therapy has the ability to provide relief from pain and stress in a non-invasive way without the risk of harmful side effects that comes with many prescription treatments.

By combining the healing touch of massage therapy with a holistic philosophy, we create an experience that helps people connect to their bodies while simultaneously helping them tune into their emotional state.

Holistic massage therapy recognises both the physical and mental side of stress within the body. It also recognises that each is as important as the other.

Holistic massage therapy is a complementary therapy and by no means a substitute for medical treatment. Anyone suffering from a serious condition like a physical injury, mental health problem or other diseases should always contact their doctor first.
